School Resource Officer

 

Whippany Park High School participates in the New Jersey Safe Schools Resource Officer Program. This program is designed to assist schools and communities in reducing juvenile delinquency through a collaborative approach between law enforcement and schools. A uniformed police officer is stationed in the high school each day school is in session. The school resource officer does not replace teachers and administrators in enforcing school policies and codes of conduct.

 

Hanover Township Patrolman James Grawehr is Whippany Park High School's School Resource Officer.

 

Patrolman Grawehr's duties include but are not limited to the following:

 

    Providing security and surveillance.
Taking necessary action with regard to trespassers, suspicious persons and conditions.
Conducting investigations of criminal and delinquent activity.
Enforcing traffic and parking laws and regulations on school property.
Working with school administration and staff on school security and student safety issues.
Assisting school personnel in dealing with emergencies.
Assisting the school administration in truancy and residency investigations.
Assisting the school administration on matters dealing with child custody, domestic violence, and/or restraining orders.
Assisting with Megan's law notifications received by the school.
Serving as a guest instructor for specialized programs involving a range of topics such as security, crime prevention, drug and alcohol education, driver education, the criminal and juvenile justice system, and related topics.
Assisting with the training of school security personnel.
Serving as a role model to students by demonstrating appropriate attitudes, behavior,
courtesy, and respect.
